About the Vermont Bag Lady
Inspired at a young age by her mother and grandmothers, Nan Adriance has spooled her imagination through creative pieces of art. Fabric art that is, aprons, scarves, and of course her favorite ... handmade bags.
Started in 1999, the Vermont Bag Lady has grown and flourished into a productive cottage industry. What began as a creative outlet providing a distraction from a disability, is now fueled by a passion for creating beautiful handmade articles. Wearable art featuring handmade buttons and unique embellishments are her trademark. Her handbags are trendy and unique as well as functional.
Now featured in Frog Hollow Gallery, Artists in Residence, Mountain Fiber Folk, and a member of Vermont Hand Crafters and the Burklyn Arts Council, she is well known throughout Vermont.
"I am pleased to be part of a unique group of Vermont Artisans who capture the beauty of handmade crafts in a manufactured world," she says.
I started making handbags over ten years ago and the journey has been an incredible life lesson. I hope you enjoy browsing through my collection of handmade purses, aprons, scarves, pillows and more. As a sole proprietor, I try to work at a harmonic pace. Each item is designed, hand cut and sewn by me. I make many of my own buttons which add a distinction to my work. Each week I will add new items so Thank you for your patience and persistence. Do come often to check out new arrivals.
Enjoy!
